Subsistence…compared to Survival your life is much better as a business owner because your business is regularly breaking even… “I finally have after-tax profits evidenced in cash to pay my bills” and are breathing a deep sigh of relief.

Income is just enough to have stopped the bleeding. Your Lifestyle is still on hold, but you are breathing easier and living on just the basics for life. Emotionally, you feel great and are experiencing the sense of “I made it!” If you stop the business stops but you are o.k. with that because at least you are making a living. Your Business Focus has now shifted from sales to production in order to keep your clients, preventing you from falling back into Survival. Reality: Your business is basically dependent on you, the owner, for all major functions.

How to graduate from Subsistence? Now that you have your bills paid each month, it’s time to take stock and take on new risks if you want your business to continue its course to Maturity. We believe this begins with asking yourself deep questions about what your life will look like at the end of the road if you continue on this endless treadmill of doing it, doing it, doing it!
